Since our start we facilitate spaces for citizens to make informed decisions and make their voices heard, we work with the local government structures, central government and the community.

We have always advocated for creation of enabling environment for women, youth and PWDs to participate in the development process of the community and their personal lives.

FORUD uphold the value of intolerance to cultural beliefs and values that undermine and that deny women of control over natural resources like land and property, decision making over self-expression on individual health and community development process. With the decentralization of local governments by the 1995 Uganda constitution, it created a bottom up planning by local government that fact into the national development plan. This offer a very great opportunity to grass root local communities to participate in planning and budgeting at lower level. But due to lack of knowledge and skills, the community people are always left out to participate in the processes.

We focus on the areas of:

  • Human rights
  • Civic education
  • Policy and advocacy
